The Living Room - Space for Health and Wellbeing

The Living Room @spudWORKS gallery - Taster Creative Activities Weeks

We run creative activity taster weeks throughout the year for older people and those living with dementia and their carers.  They are themed around the seasons and session are facilitated by experienced professional artists.  This archive shows the fun we are having!

January - Celebrating Winter, Anticipating Spring

The theme for our first week in January was Celebrating Winter, anticipating Spring.  A series of simple activities with professional artists were run, including dance and movement, weaving, ceramic tile making and poetry/stories with gentle making activities.  The gallery was set up to be welcoming, accessible and reflect the theme.

Older people from the local community participated over the week, including groups visiting from local care homes for a morning out. Tea, coffee and cake is an essential part of the sessions!

March - Spring is Sprung!

The theme for our week in March was 'Spring is Sprung!'  We made wonderful ceramic pots, shared to  poetry/stories, made bunting and glass tiles and Easter eggs.  The gallery was full of pink tissue paper blossom!

We have set ourselves an ambitious target of £50,000 to raise to be able to build a dedicated new workshop space at spudWORKS in Sway.  This funding will be combined with an application to Arts Council England for capital funding.  With your help we can get there.
